Horsetail Falls Queenstown

Horsetail Falls Tasmania

Nestled just a short drive from Queenstown, Horsetail Falls is a stunning waterfall that captivates visitors with its cascading silvery streams against the rugged Tasmanian landscape.

It is surrounded by dramatic rocky cliffs, and it’s a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers alike. Whether you’re passing through on a road trip or seeking a peaceful escape into the wilderness, Horsetail Falls offers a serene and picturesque experience that showcases the wild beauty of Tasmania’s west coast.

Horsetail Falls is a beautiful seasonal 50-metre waterfall along Moore Creek on the outskirts of Queenstown in Tasmania. It is best viewed after heavy rains in the area, as at other times, it is only a tiny trickle.

Walk along the 1-kilometre boardwalk that winds its way around the mountain for great views of Horsetail Falls and Mt. Owen in the background.

There is a large parking area, well signposted off the Lyell Highway, where the boardwalk begins.

Directions to Horsetail Falls

Head out of Queenstown towards Gormanston on the Lyell Highway; after about 5 kilometres, you will see the parking area and the start of the walking trail.
