Bright is a popular tourist town on the banks of the Ovens River in the foothills of the Australian Alps. It is located 327 kilometres north-east of Melbourne, in the Victorian High Country. Bright has lovely tree-lined streets, great local food and wine and lots of fun outdoor activities.

Myrtleford is a lovely country town nestled in the foothills of Mount Buffalo in Victoria’s High Country. It is located between Wangaratta and Bright on the Great Alpine Road, 296 km north-east of Melbourne. Myrtleford boasts beautiful tree-lined streets and parks, offers great local food and wine, and has a relaxed atmosphere.

During our recent Albury to Echuca Road Trip in our Motorhome, we explored Albury, Rutherglen, Corowa, Yarrawonga, Cobram, Tocumwal, Numurkah and Echuca. We started our road trip from Albury in NSW, which is approximately 550 kilometres from Sydney and 320 kilometres from Melbourne. 

The Willows Reserve is a lovely camping spot along the Murray River near Wahgungah in Victoria. It is located at the end of Short Street and is only 600 metres from Wahgunyah. It is a popular destination for camping, swimming, fishing, and just relaxing by the river.

Yarrawonga is a vibrant holiday town on the banks of Lake Mulwala in north-east Victoria. It is located 280 kilometres from Melbourne.  Yarrawonga is known for its sunshine, water sports, and relaxed country atmosphere. It also has interesting heritage buildings, great cafes and outdoor recreational areas.

Cobram is a lovely town on the banks of the Murray River in northern Victoria. It is surrounded by stone fruit orchards and dairy farms, and is actually the largest stone fruit-producing region in Australia. Cobram is located 261 kilometres north of Melbourne, and is a popular destination for holidays and day trips.

Numurkah is a small country town on Broken Creek. It is located on the Goulburn Valley Highway, 227 kilometres north of Melbourne and 37 kilometres from Shepparton. It has lovely parks and gardens, heritage buildings, and great cafes.

Moama is an interesting town on the Murray River in southern New South Wales. It is located 224 kilometres north of Melbourne and 781 kilometres southwest of Sydney. Moama has a lovely lagoon walk, colourful water tower art, fantastic wineries and a relaxed atmosphere.

St Arnaud is a historic gold mining town in the Northern Grampians region of Victoria. It’s located around 240 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and about 100 kilometres west of Bendigo. This charming town is known for its stunning heritage buildings, lovely gardens and fascinating street art.

Swan Hill is a vibrant regional city on the banks of the Murray River in north-west Victoria, approximately 340 kilometres from Melbourne. It has an interesting pioneer history, an iconic paddle steamer, a wonderful Pioneer Village, and is a great place to base yourself while exploring the Murray region.

Echuca is a lovely historic town on the banks of the Murray River, in Victoria. It is located 216 kilometres from Melbourne and has heritage paddlesteamer cruises, fascinating history, and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

Benalla is a charming rural City on the Broken River, 212 kilometres north east of Melbourne. It has a vibrant art scene, beautiful gardens, and interesting heritage buildings.

Glenrowan is a quaint tourist town nestled in Victoria's High Country, 236 kilometres northeast of Melbourne. Glenrowan is synonymous with Ned Kelly, Australia's most notorious outlaw. The town is the site of the infamous last stand of the Kelly Gang in 1880, a pivotal event in Australian history.
