The Neck Bruny Island - Tasmania
The Neck Lookout on Bruny Island is one of Tasmania’s most iconic viewpoints, offering sweeping vistas where the island’s narrow isthmus meets the turquoise waters of the Southern Ocean. From the elevated lookout, you can see the golden sand dunes and the dramatic coastline stretching in both directions, a perfect spot for photography, spotting wildlife, or simply taking in the island’s natural beauty. Accessible with a short walk from the car park, it’s an easy but unforgettable way to experience Bruny Island’s stunning landscapes.
The Neck on Bruny Island is an isthmus of land connecting north and south Bruny Island. You can climb to the top of the Truganini Lookout and enjoy stunning panoramic views of the isthmus and the surrounding area.
Once you have seen the beach from above, follow the pathway to the sand and enjoy a relaxing stroll along The Neck Beach. Neck Beach is a sweeping 10-kilometre crescent of magnificent white sand and pounding waves; it is one of the more exposed sections of the coastline on Bruny Island.
The Neck is an essential habitat for Bruny Islands wildlife; at the Neck Game Reserve, viewing platforms enable you to observe the short-tailed shearwaters and little penguins.
You can also camp at The Neck Game Reserve campground, a fantastic area sheltered behind the dunes and only 20 metres from the beach.
