A Waterfall Framed by Giants

Triplet Falls is best known for its three distinct cascades, which spill down mossy rock ledges beneath the forest canopy. The surrounding Mountain Ash trees are among the tallest flowering plants in the world, with some estimated to be over 300 years old.

After rain, the falls are especially impressive, but even in drier periods, the setting alone makes the walk well worth the effort.

The Triplet Falls Walk

The walk begins at the Triplet Falls carpark and immediately descends via a series of steps into the rainforest. As you make your way downhill, you’ll pass several interpretive information boards that share interesting facts about the forest, local wildlife and the area’s history.

After the initial descent, the track flattens out and leads onto a raised metal boardwalk that winds beneath the towering Mountain Ash trees, offering a wonderful sense of scale and perspective.

Viewing Platforms and the Best Vantage Point

There are several viewing platforms along the track, each offering a slightly different perspective of Triplet Falls. Some views are partially filtered through ferns and trees, adding to the rainforest atmosphere.

The final viewing platform provides the best vantage point, where you can clearly see all three cascades flowing through the gully — the highlight of the walk for most visitors.

Traces of the Gold-Mining Past

The return section of the circuit climbs back towards the carpark via another series of steep steps. Along this part of the track, you’ll spot historic mining relics from the area’s gold-mining days, including an old steam boiler and a bogie with wooden boards.

These remnants offer a fascinating contrast to the peaceful rainforest setting and a reminder of the region’s layered history. From the final viewing platform, it takes approximately 20 minutes to return to the carpark.
