Bridal Veil Falls, Tasmania - Absolutely Stunning Waterfall Hidden in the Rainforest

Hidden deep in the cool temperate rainforest near Moina in Tasmania’s north-west, Bridal Veil Falls is a graceful and rewarding waterfall reached via a scenic forest walk from the Lemonthyme Lodge Wilderness Retreat. Cascading delicately over the rock face and into Bull Creek below, this beautiful waterfall feels wonderfully secluded and is a highlight of the area for those who enjoy peaceful rainforest walks.

Located around 39 kilometres from Sheffield, Bridal Veil Falls is best suited to visitors who don’t mind a moderate walk in exchange for stunning scenery and a quieter waterfall experience.

Starting the Walk at Lemonthyme Lodge

All walks to Bridal Veil Falls and Champagne Falls begin at Lemonthyme Lodge Wilderness Retreat. Before setting off, make sure you register your walk with the lodge staff. You can also pick up a helpful self-guided walk brochure that shares interesting facts about the surrounding forest, and the lodge café is a great spot to grab a coffee before or after your hike.

Bridal Veil Falls Walk Details

Distance: 6-kilometre circuit - Time: Around 2 hours - Grade 3

The walk starts along an old 4WD track, climbing steadily uphill for approximately 1.5 kilometres. While the track is wide and easy to follow, it is fairly steep in sections, so take your time and enjoy the rainforest atmosphere as you ascend.

The Track to Bridal Veil Falls

Partway along the 4WD track, you’ll pass a signposted turn-off to Champagne Falls, another lovely waterfall on Bull Creek. 👉 Click here for more details on Champagne Falls

To reach Bridal Veil Falls, continue along the narrow rainforest track that follows Bull Creek upstream. This section of the walk is particularly scenic, winding through dense forest with ferns, mossy trunks, and several small cascades along the way. After approximately one kilometre, you’ll reach a bridge crossing the creek — a perfect spot to pause and listen to the sound of flowing water before arriving at the falls.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is a stunning 21-metre single-drop waterfall that fans gracefully over the rock face into Bull Creek below. A bridge positioned in front of the falls provides an excellent viewing and photo opportunity, allowing you to fully appreciate the delicate flow and rainforest setting.

For a unique perspective, there is also a short track that allows you to stand behind the waterfall. Before crossing the bridge, continue along the path, and you’ll find access to a sheltered spot behind the falling water — a memorable highlight of the walk.

Completing the Circuit

Once you’ve finished exploring Bridal Veil Falls, cross the bridge and climb uphill for about 50 metres to rejoin the main 4WD track. From here, follow the track downhill back to Lemonthyme Lodge Wilderness Retreat, completing the circuit. Be aware that sections of the track can become muddy and slippery after rain, so sturdy footwear is essential.

Why Visit Bridal Veil Falls?

Bridal Veil Falls is a wonderful choice for walkers seeking a peaceful rainforest waterfall with a sense of adventure. The combination of forest tracks, flowing creek views, and the opportunity to view the waterfall from both the front and behind makes this walk a rewarding experience in Tasmania’s north-west.
