Nigretta Falls Victoria
Nigretta Falls is a stunning natural attraction where the Wannon River plunges 25 metres over rugged basalt cliffs, creating a dramatic multi-channel cascade. The falls are located 16 kilometres west of Hamilton in the Southern Grampians, and are surrounded by lush vegetation and rocky outcrops, making it a perfect spot for a picnic.
There is an easy-to-access viewing area at the top of the falls, offering panoramic views of the cascading water and the surrounding countryside. For a closer experience, a short walk down a set of steps leads to the base of the falls, where you can feel the cool spray and explore the riverbanks. Walking trails around the site allow visitors to appreciate the natural beauty from different angles, and the area is also home to abundant birdlife, adding to the peaceful, immersive experience.
Nigretta Falls is located in the Nigretta Falls Scenic Reserve, with plenty of parking, toilets, picnic shelters and BBQs.
The upper viewing platform is only a few metres from the carpark and offers fantastic views of Nigretta Falls.
You can then walk down a set of stairs to the base of Nigretta Falls, where you have lovely views of the whole waterfall. At the top of the stairs is an information board showing the flora you can observe in the region.
