Pelverata Falls Tasmania
Pelverata Falls is one of Tasmania’s tallest and most impressive waterfalls, plunging an incredible 114 metres into the rugged gorge of Pelverata Creek within the beautiful Snug Tiers Nature Reserve. Surrounded by towering eucalypts, ferns and moss-covered rock walls, the falls are at their most spectacular after rainfall, when the water streams down the cliffs.
The walk to the base of Pelverata Falls is a 6-kilometre return track that offers a wonderful mix of forest scenery and changing terrain. The trail begins gently, winding through tall eucalyptus woodland before entering a cool, shaded rainforest filled with tree ferns and trickling streams. As the rainforest section comes to an end, the track becomes steeper and narrower, climbing along a rocky ledge before descending carefully to the viewing platform at the base of the falls.
From the lookout, you’ll have a breathtaking view straight up the towering cliff face to the cascading water above. After good rainfall, keen eyes will also spot Slippery Falls across the gorge to the right, adding to the dramatic beauty of this secluded Tasmanian waterfall setting.
Directions to Pelverata Falls
From Hobart, head southeast on Murray Street towards Bidencopes Lane, then follow the A6 for 21.3 kilometres to Sandfly Road. Take Pelverata Rd (C621) and then Umfrevilles Rd to the car parking area at Pelverata Falls.
