Champagne Falls, Tasmania - A Stunning Waterfall Hidden in the Rainforest
Tucked away in the lush rainforest near Moina in Tasmania’s north-west, Champagne Falls is a beautiful single-drop waterfall reached via a scenic forest walk from the Lemonthyme Lodge Wilderness Retreat. Cascading gently into Bull Creek, this peaceful waterfall is surrounded by dense rainforest and mossy undergrowth, making it a rewarding destination for walkers who enjoy quieter, less-visited places.
Located around 39 kilometres from Sheffield, Champagne Falls is ideal for those wanting a short adventure in Tasmania’s cool-temperate rainforest, with the option to extend the walk to Bridal Veil Falls.

Champagne Falls Walk Details
Part 1 of a 6-kilometre circuit - Allow 1–2 hours return to Champagne Falls - Grade 3
The walk starts along an old 4WD track, climbing steadily uphill for around 1.5 kilometres. While the track is wide and easy to follow, it is fairly steep in places, so take your time and enjoy the changing rainforest scenery along the way.
Reaching Champagne Falls
Along the 4WD track, keep an eye out for a wooden signpost pointing to Champagne Falls on the right. From here, a narrow bush track descends steeply for approximately 200 metres down to the base of the falls. This final section is short but can be slippery after rain, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
At the bottom, Champagne Falls reveals itself as a graceful 15-metre single-drop waterfall, spilling over the rock face into Bull Creek below. Surrounded by thick rainforest, it’s a quiet and atmospheric spot, especially after rainfall when the water flow is strongest.
Take time to enjoy the peaceful setting, listen to the sound of falling water, and capture a few photos before heading back the same way.
Optional Extension to Bridal Veil Falls
From the Champagne Falls side track, walkers also have the option to continue further upstream to Bridal Veil Falls, another beautiful waterfall along Bull Creek. This section involves a narrow rainforest track and creek crossings and is best tackled if you have extra time and energy.
Track Conditions & Tips
The walk can become muddy and slippery after rain
Wear good hiking shoes with grip
Allow extra time after wet weather
Leeches may be present in warmer months
