Millstream Falls
Millstream Falls, located near Ravenshoe in Queensland’s Atherton Tablelands, is one of the widest single-drop waterfalls in Australia and a truly impressive sight. Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, the falls cascade into a picturesque pool that can be admired from well-constructed viewing platforms, making it easily accessible for all visitors. The area also features walking tracks and picnic spots, providing a peaceful setting to relax and take in the natural beauty. Millstream Falls is a must-see stop for anyone exploring the Atherton Tablelands and Queensland’s Wet Tropics.
At Millstream Falls, the water spectacularly flows over the edge of a columnar basalt lava cliff. The falls are surrounded by dry, open woodland dominated by eucalyptus trees; the dry conditions are due to a rain shadow caused by the Great Dividing Range.
There is a walking track from the carpark to a viewing platform; it is approximately 680 metres one way. The viewing platform is a great spot to marvel at these magnificent falls and take some great photos. There are picnic tables and toilets near the carpark.
