Wynyard is a charming seaside town on Tasmania’s North West Coast, set at the mouth of the Inglis River where farmland meets the sea. Discover Table Cape Lighthouse

Built in 1888, the lighthouse continues to guide ships along Tasmania’s rugged coastline and offers breathtaking panoramic views over Bass Strait, surrounding farmland, and — in spring — the colourful tulip fields below.
Visitors can join a guided tour to learn about the lighthouse’s history, maritime navigation, and the lives of the lighthouse keepers who once called this remote clifftop home. Even without a tour, walking around the lighthouse and nearby cliff-top paths is a rewarding experience with incredible photo opportunities.
Wonders of Wynyard at the Wynyard Visitor Centre
One of Wynyard’s most unique attractions is the Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition, housed within the Wynyard Visitor Information Centre. Here you’ll find the remarkable Ransley Veteran Car Collection, a world-class display of beautifully restored early motor vehicles.
The collection includes more than a dozen historic cars, including the 1903 Ford Model A, recognised as the oldest Ford in the world, along with rare vehicles such as the 1907 Ford Model K, 1911 Brush Runabout, and the one-of-a-kind 1905 Darracq Flying 15.
Each vehicle is accompanied by detailed information, making this exhibition fascinating not only for motoring enthusiasts but for anyone interested in innovation, history, and storytelling.
Explore Fossil Bluff
Just a short drive from town, Fossil Bluff is a fascinating coastal site that combines geology, history, and beautiful ocean views. The sandstone cliffs here are embedded with thousands of tiny fossilised shells and marine creatures, some dating back millions of years.
At low tide, you can walk along the rocky shoreline and spot these ancient fossils up close while enjoying sweeping views of the Bass Strait and rugged coastline. It’s a quiet, contemplative place that highlights the deep natural history of Tasmania’s north west.

Guide Falls is a Lovely Waterfall that is very easy to access and is located near Wynyard and Burnie in Tasmania. The Guide River cascades 25 metres over an impressive basalt rock face, creating Guide Falls.
The Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens is an impressive 11-hectare private garden situated in Burnie. It boasts over 24,000 varieties of rhododendrons and other exotic flowering plants from around the world. You may even spot a platypus in the lake.
